I didn't know, where came gabriel from? He used owner God's work. When was Gabriel born?
Never knows about him.
I guess, the legendacy vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, he was the Dutch Professor in the Universitat and he was the title of the Doctor.
but who was Gabriel Van Helsing?
Little brother? Possible is the family of Van Helsing.
Bram's Stoker, he was author and gave the story about the Count Dracula in whole life.
You know, Gabriel means the Archangel.
but how?? Maybe Stephen Sommers his error...

Yes thats what I wonder as well?? Who is Gabriel Van Helsing? Well I do know that Gabriel is an Archangel (possibly) and that he is the Left Hand of God. What does the Left Hand of God mean though? I dont get it.. Possibly, lol! I hope he was, that would be very wonderful, and it would make sense there! That I also agree. I wish Stephen Sommer wouldn't leave us hanging... *shrug* And if VH2 doesn't come out, we wouldn't know anything much about who Gabriel REALLY is. And that is a pain.... And Dracula. What was the past Gabriel forgot about with Dracula? Dracula mentioned that Gabriel was like a brother to him. ('BROTHER'S IN ARMS!') And the truth about Gabriel killing Dracula... I would really like to find out what. No theories. Just real and complete answers. Maybe a flashback of Gabriel Van Helsing and Dracula would be great!

Yes, where said Dracula "three four hunderd years" and how does Gabriel in whole life? right, "Brother's in arms" battle war, but how? And I've brought my fanfic and maybe I will to clear about gabriel's life. and then not in the movie said "triangular scars on your back?" at the novel book "Van Helsing" and one other text from screenplay Sommers's work "Four hundered years ago we were friends. Partners! Brothers!" and second: "I know who you are. Who controls you. Join me and I'll cut the strings that play you! I'll give you your life back!"
also, I didn't know why had Stehpen change this screenplay? This is good stuff but otherwise are bad story. It must to be: Flashback-Scene added...not understood at the movie.

I know that Van Helsing said to Carl that he remembers fighting in a battle hundreds of years before. Maybe Dracula was in that battle as well and they were on the same side and they were friends.
I know that in another Vampire movie or book I know, Dracula was one of the men sitting with Jesus at the last supper. Maybe this is connected as well, maybe Van Helsing was there to.
Or maybe Van Helsing is the arch angel himself but went down to earth with no memory as Gabriel Van Helsing.
As for the difference in Bram Stoker and Van Helsing movie, Sommers changed it purposefully to connect with my previous suggestion of the arch angel.

He tells Carl that he remembers fighting at Masada in 72AD against the Romans- this would make him the only survivor, seeing as the Jewish people in the fortress the Romans were laying siege to for so long committed suicide to not only prevent the Romans from enslaving them and eventually executing them very gruesomly, but as a way to give them the proverbial finger- 'you fought for this d**n hill and here are your spoils...dead people'.
History records no survivors at Masada.
I think that Gabriel Van Helsing is the ascendant of Abraham Van Helsing. This would mean that Van Helsing the elder killed Dracula the first time and Van Helsing the younger killed him the second time.
Dracula would not have been at Masada unless he was on the Roman side and this I highly doubt. In any case, they would have NOT been friends, were they on opposite sides of the fight. At that time in history, the Jewish nation and the Roman nation did not make alliances.
Christ sits at the Right Hand of God giving blessing and peace. Van Helsing sits on the Left Hand of God bringing destruction and purification. Both do God's bidding, one in light and one in darkness.
I think the reference to four hundred years ago refers to Van Helsing gaining Dracula's trust back during his life prior to becoming vampire- after all, four hundred years prior, Dracula was still human- remember, Dracula does tell Van Helsing that he killed him in 1462. I think that they were on the same side until Van Helsing had to kill Dracula for his wickedness- then he went all vampy and ressurrected himself via the deal with the Devil.
As for Dracula's monologue of knowing who controls Van Helsing and giving him his life back, I believe that Dracula means to give Van Helsing his history back through his deal with the Devil by severing all ties to the Church.
Stoker's novel is more drama than action and very difficult to accurately bring to screen due to it's literary style. Though I like Stoker's original story, I like how Sommers took the basis of the gentleman vampire from it and then took the story in a different direction and setting, using a lot of the Romanian mythology to back his story- sort of a 'what if Dracula never came to England' kind of plot. By changing Van Helsing's name, he puts us one more step away from Stoker's work, yet still tells his audience what the dichotomy between the two characters is- we know that the name Van Helsing connotates to the person who kills Dracula. We also have Anna, who fills the role Mina played in Stoker's novel as the object of Dracula's interest, yet we empower her and put more at stake by giving her family a history connecting her to Dracula in a way similar to the modern Florinescu (forgive the terrible spelling) family.
There's my two-cents.
Cheers- ~LV
